The Old Man of the Mountains Is Gone
It’s funny, this is just one of those things I always thought of as permanent. I remember talking with Kristen last time we were up that way, just before David was born, about how someday we’d pull off the Interstate into the little parking area with him and and point out across the road and the lake and up the mountain at that great stone face, just the way my folks did with me when I was a kid. You can’t hang onto material things, I guess, no matter how solid they seem.
