Great site for pondering ... and browsing. The variety and passion of human theological beliefs is mindbending. The site is "a growing collection of over 41,000 adherent statistics and religious geography citations -- references to published membership/adherent statistics and congregation statistics for over 4,200 religions, churches, denominations, religious bodies, faith groups, tribes, cultures, movements, ultimate concerns, etc."
Religious Affiliation of History's 100 Most Influential People
Whether or not one agrees with the rankings, I think it's interesting to look at what great peoples’ religious convictions were. I was curious as I made the difficult intellectual transition from atheist to theist as to which team had done the most to advance the state of mankind. I once considered making a list -- but realized that such a list would be a poor argument for either side ...

This site is nicely organized by topic and era and will appeal to anyone's skeptical side -- though its summaries of the various hoaxes are a little shorter on documention than I'd prefer.
